The trip to the Philippines this time is full of adventure and unusual experiences that need going over, some worth going back for and others you can talk about and remember with glee but probably would not want to encounter again. Here is an account of my own personal experience. So fasten your seatbelts as you ride the following pages.
Induction Ball & Awards
It was 70 years ago on January 5, 1946 that Tau Mu Sigma Phi was founded by an elite group of young medical students led by Dr. Augusto Julian Ramos, Jr. So it was that hundreds of Tauans from the Philippines and abroad congregated to celebrate the Platinum Anniversary of Tau Mu Sigma Phi, the premier fraternity of the University of Santo Tomas.
An array of activities were scheduled by the organizing committee led by Bro. Dr. Elvis Llarena, the Tauan Alumni Organization (TAO) President, and Bro. Angelo Cruz, the Most Exalted Brother and Bro Dr. Ramon Contreras, the Tau Mu USA President. Continue reading

An Interview of Dr. Mariano Defante Tolentino Jr.
During the start of this class, the professor discussed that the midterm paper is about an interview of a CEO. At first, I did not expect that I would one day interview my grandfather. I thought that at 87 years old, he might not have the strength to do an interview with me. However, due to the initial invitation rejections I received, I felt that I did not have a choice but to interview my grandfather. Fortunately, I was able to interview my grandfather and learned a lot about running a company. It was here that I learn about running a company. It was here that I learn that the head of the company represents that company and that every action he does will affect the company and that the values he holds true in his life will also be the values that the company will value. So, after a trip to Iloilo here is my interview with Dr. Mariano Defante Tolentino Jr. Continue reading

I think only the fraternity knows Tau Mu better than I do. And I think that’s because I was fortunate enough to have grown up with them.
Much of my childhood was filled with Christmas parties, reunions, weddings, casual get-togethers and drop-ins of Tauan passersby.
I remember the long drives, the great food, and the fun that we had because that was something that never changed. Wherever we were headed, it was always going to be fun. Continue reading

On Tau Mu Sigma Phi’s 70th year anniversary, the Thomasian Medical Students’ Fraternity welcomes four new brothers to the circle of Tauan brotherhood.
The new Tauans underwent initiations under the tutelage of then Exalted Brother Ryan Paolo Lopez Bondoc, Prodigal Sons. Our newly initiated brothers are as follows: Bro. Bien Jindrich Johannes Bautista Jovellanos, Bro. Kevin Reollada Managuelod, Bro. Raphael Angello Lobrin Obias and Bro. Anthony Royce Primicias Prudencio.
Bien Jindrich or Brx for short has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Santo Tomas. He was interested in joining Tau Mu Sigma Phi because of the fraternity’s countless medical missions and its major projects such as MEDWARDS.
MEDWARDS is the fraternity’s annual major school project during MEDWEEK celebrations. Beneficiaries of the one day event are the different wards of the UST Clinical Division.
Brx is the son of Bro. Dr. Benedicto ‘Benjie’ Anselmo Jovellanos, GI 18 and the nephew of Bro. Dr. Marlon Anselmo Jovellanos, Pililia 7 but he claims that he approached the fraternity on his own. Continue reading
