ΤΜΣΦ Prepares for Freshmen Orientation Week and New Academic Year

ORG-ETau Mu Sigma Phi, the Thomasian Medical Students’ Fraternity, welcomes the more than 400 incoming University of Santo Tomas – Faculty of Medicine & Surgery freshmen into the medical school community.

The fraternity will be hosting a booth at Room 317 of the St. Martin de Porres Building on August 6, 2015 from 12 noon until 5 pm as part of the Medicine Student Council’s Freshman Orientation Week. The university wide welcome mat for freshmen begins on Tuesday, August 4 where the MSC will host a History of Medicine Lecture at the CME Auditorium on the first floor. Tauans Attend USTMAAA’s 23rd Annual Reunion in Orlando

imageSummer is in full swing in the United States and once again, alumni of the University of Santo Tomas – Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, take a much needed breather and respite from their respective practices to reacquaint with their fellow Thomasians and attend this year’s USTMAAA reunion in Orlando, Florida.

It is the organization’s 23rd annual offering of the event which started last Tuesday, July 1 and commenced on Sunday, July 5. The five day long affair includes CME lectures, individual class gatherings and the gala night featuring the Jubilarians. The convention was held at the Grand Lakes Resort JW Marriott, Orlando, Florida. The USTMAAA Foundation is celebrating its Silver Anniversary as well. Continue reading

Espino and Concio Graduate From Respective Residency Programs

Two Tauans who decided to pursue a medical career in the United States recently finished their respective residencies completing a long, arduous but fulfilling journey into the U.S. Healthcare system.

ROMMEL1The first Tauan is Bro. Dr. Erwin Rommel Miranda Espino, 2 Vicious Tauans, who completed his three year Family Medicine Program from the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences AHEC in El Dorado, Arkansas.

His graduation rites were held last Friday, June 26, 2015 and were attended by family, friends and the El Dorado Boys, a diverse group of Tauans who all passed thru this Family Practice residency program.

NINYO5The second Tauan to finish his Family Practice Residency Program is is Bro. Dr. Conrado Christian Dilig Concio, Vigilantes. Ninyo, as he is fondly called by family, friends and brods, attended the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Medicine Department of Family and Preventive Medicine in Lawton, Oklahoma.

His graduation rites last Friday, June 26, 2015 were attended by family and two other Oklahoman Tauans, Bro. Dr. Nicasio ‘Nic’ Sanchez Gutierrez Jr., Solid State 17 and Bro. Dr. Nemesio ‘Nemy’ Sanchez Gutierrez, 7-11 Local 2-4-5. Continue reading
