Three years after opening up a free Hepatitis C Clinic in his hometown of Port Charlotte, Florida, Bro. Dr. Marianito Olivares Asperilla, Batch Anim can rightfully claim that the undertaking is achieving success.

This means, per CDC Guidelines, that there exists a sustained virologic response(a marker for cure), defined as undetectable HCV RNA in a patient’s blood 24 weeks after the end of treatment.

The Charlotte County Hepatitis C Clinic is a joint venture between local physicians, including Bro. Nitoy, and the Charlotte County Health Department. The county has one of the highest Hepatitis C rates in the state and some patients cannot afford the expensive treatment. Continue reading

Dr. Gil Medina Simeon, Untouchables 17.5 and Bro. Dr. Robert Yao Chan, 13 Men and a Baby. Knowing all so well that my batch mate Obet foregone bathing last week of initiations, I deduced that the signs hanging on the underside of our study tables came from Goons. To debate with him as to the origins and veracity of the saying, whether it was from ancient Hebrew teachings, the Bible or from the 16th century English author Francis Bacon, was moot. He is after all our ‘kuya’, who demands respect and obedience so we tried to comply. Continue reading
